The Friends of the George Museum was established in 2015 and is a registered non-profit organization made up of mostly volunteers. The aim of the Friends is to promote and assist the George Museum. It also raises funds for special projects to the benefit of the museum and the George community. Projects often focuses on history, culture, art, nature and education.
We invite you or your organization to become a member and Friend. We offer memberships for scholars, students, adults, senior citizens, organizations and businesses.

The George Museum
The George Museum strives to make the community more aware of their heritage and to give them a better understanding of its history and environment through its work and exhibitions. The museum endeavors to collect and exhibit assets that portray the cultural heritage of George and surroundings. It traces the history of the town to its origins as a DEIC (Dutch East Indian Company) outpost established in the Southern Cape in c. 1777 it soon became the hub of a flourishing timber industry.
